VBE_Extras - manual install

There are two options for manual installation of VBE_Extras. Neither needs 'administrator' permissions on your device ... both add registry keys only to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive (i.e. for you only), and both install VBE_Extras for all of the host applications that it works within (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Project), whether they are 32-bit or 64-bit.
 

1. Using an 'installer.xlsm' Workbook (you need Excel for this option). The VBA code in the Workbook adds the registry keys for you (it needs read / write access to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive ... which is typically available to all users). This is by far the simpler of these two options.

2. Using .reg files. You edit the path in the 'install.reg' file so that it points to where you saved the VBE_Extras program files (a single 'Replace All' in Notepad if you use the recommended folder) then double-click it. This option cannot be used if your organisation has disabled registry editing on your device. 'install.reg' adds only VBE_Extras' own keys and 'uninstall.reg' removes them - as with any .reg file, change nothing in it except the paths.

To manually install VBE_Extras version 1.7.4.6, first, download VBE_Extras_Manual_Install.zip - this includes instructions for both manual installation options (as PDF files), the 'installer.xlsm' Excel Workbook and the .reg files.

Before unzipping it, right-click on the .zip file and select Properties ... if, at the bottom of the resulting dialog, you can see an 'Unblock' checkbox then check (tick) it and click OK. This is important: Windows marks files that are downloaded from the internet as blocked, and Excel will not run the macros in a blocked 'installer.xlsm' Workbook. Then unzip the archive file, read the End User Licence Agreement (if you do not agree to the terms of the EULA, do not install VBE_Extras) and follow the instructions in the manual install PDF file for the option you want to use. If you have already manually installed an earlier version of VBE_Extras, follow the 'Update' instructions in the PDF file for the option you used ... this also adds any registry keys that newer versions of VBE_Extras need.
